Healthy & Fun Valentine’s Day Gift Ideas & GIVEAWAY

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner! Though its trademarked as a Hallmark holiday, I use it as an opportunity to bring joy to friends and family by sending a card and/or a ‘thinking of you’ type gift.  And when choosing said gift, I like to be unconventional: hand-made cards (if time) and swapping traditional gifts such as a box of chocolates with something a bit more health-minded.

energybits red heartsInstead of chocolate, try some algae! Made from 100% organicallly grown spirulina algae and loaded with 40 nutrients, ENERGYbits® algae tabs have the highest concentration of protein in the world (64%) all for just one calorie per tab. It’s a quick way to boost your athletic performance, supercharge your run or crank up your endurance while working or working out. –ENERGYbits website Not only are they good for you, they are VERY friendly to the waistline!

Instead of a flowers, try a flowery Sweaty Bands head band!  With hundreds of styles to choose from, you can look stylish day/night at work or when working out! And they are super easy to clean, just hand wash and let drip dry! They have a deal going on right now where if you order 3 head bands, you get 1 hearts head band free! Select your choice at checkout, supplies are limited!  You can do like I did at Christmas, get a few for friends and presto, you get a free one! To see some of the ones I’ve given as gifts as well as received as a gift check out the posts Sweaty Bands Bonanza and New Year New Gear Gift Exchange. They won’t disappoint!

Instead of buying a card, make one! Really, you just need paper, glue, scissors and a marker. A trip to Michals or craft store wouldn’t hurt since they have BEAUTIFUL rice paper & pre printed color & patterend scrapbook paper pads that instantly glam up your cards! Check out examples of a card outside and inside below (not same card, just different options for how to use paper in different ways!). If if you can find the thick scrapbooking paper that is like cardstock, you are golden! Otherwise I suggest getting card stock to glue the thin sheet cutouts onto for support. Optional ways to dress up the card: ribbon/bows to adorn card or have ribbon on edges to ‘tie’ closed, fancy cursive (I like to type in a cursive font on Word and then copy it onto card in that way), or other layers of paper! Most important thing is to just have fun 🙂

  1. I used to make cards for my husband and daughter. She does it in now too for her friends. Instead of candy she would get a book, hair accessory or some other small gift. Her birthday is three days later so VDay was never a big fuss. At Easter, her basket was never full of candy but maybe a “new” tea cup (from an antique store) and saucer with teas and honey or movie themed to name a few. I always try to think outside the box.

    • OMG LOVE the easter tea cup idea! Totally want to do that if I have a daughter someday! Glad to know I’m not the only one who likes ‘giving outside the box’! Plus I’m not a huge chocolate-candies fan (other than andes mints and snickers or twix), so since I dont like them I dont buy them or give them either lol.

Thanks for sharing your gift ideas!

  2. I seriously need to try the EnergyBits! I’ve been hearing about them for a while but the word “algae” scared me away. I hear nothing but good about these! And yes, I love making handmade cards… as a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator I hand stamp mine, when I have time! Thanks for the opportunity!
