Rimmel London Scandaleyes Rockin’ Curves Mascara

  • Moisture Renew Lipstick: I received the Nude Delight share and it goes really well with my skin tone, so I love it! The lipstick does dry, so the color lasts, however I still need to use chapstick to coat my lips for some moisture. The lipstick has a light fragrance and also comes in a variety of colors.
  • There is also a clear lip liner that is recommended to use with the Moisture Renew lipsticks, which did help prevent feathering that sometimes happens with lipstick application.
  • I also received the Scandaleyes Rockin’ Curves Mascara, which has an S shaped wand to help move along the contours of your eyelashes with one sweep.  I like that it didn’t clump and that it gave me darker and fuller lashes! Love all the products!

Puffs SoftPack

The Puffs Softpack has a plastic cover, so its easy to grab the last tissue when you run out! It is a must for allergies and colds since the tissues are gentle yet durable. Must for winter!
Jergens Ultra Healing Extra Dry Skin Moisturizer

Jergens Ultra Healing Lotion leaves my skin feeling very hydrated and lightly fragranced.  It is a must to carry in your handbag if you get a travel version!
resource Natural Spring Water

Resource Spring Water is 100% natural spring water that contains naturally occurring electrolytes, which makes for a refreshing taste! Did you know the water comes in a bottle make from 50% recycled plastic? I usually bring my own reusable bottle, but I would use this brand for emergency source of water!
 Hair Food Moisture Hair Mask

I use this product on my hair after working out at the gym 2-3 times a week.  During the fall/winter seasons, my fine hair tends to dry out, so I really like that this Hair Food actually keeps my hair soft and silky even after the first use! #HairFood
 Swiss Miss Simply Cocoa

The Swiss Miss Simply Cocoa has just five ingredients: sugar, cocoa, nonfat milk, salt and natural flavors.  This tastes great with hot water or hot milk and dissolves easily for a smooth, rich taste. Totally recommend with marshmallows, just wish it came in a can with multiple servings I could scoop out.

What are Hemp Hearts?

At the top part of the hemp plant you will find the hard hemp seed. This small seed “seeds” nutritiously delicious products like Hemp Hearts, hemp protein powder, and hemp oil. At the ‘heart’ of all our hemp foods is the Hemp Heart (aka raw shelled hemp seed). The flavor is very light and just as advertised:

These nutty little seeds are packed with protein and Omega 3s, and taste delicious sprinkled on just about everything, from salads to smoothies to oatmeal.

I’ve added a few teaspoons to my morning oatmeal and cereal and even made my own blueberry, flax and hemp heart loaf!  They are very versatile for sure! If you are interested in more recipes, check out the Manitoba Harvenst Hemp Heart recipe site!

Getting Creative in the Kitchen with Hemp Hearts

This past weekend, I decided to create a new recipe involving Hemp Hearts and let’s just say it turned out great! Not only did it smell amazing while in the oven (salivating for it to cool to cut and eat), but tasted delish!

  • 3 tsp Manitoba Harvest Hemp Hearts
  • 1 package blueberry muffin mix (follow directions on the box, mine are below)
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 3 tsp ground flax meal
  • greased loaf pan or muffin tins

Combine wet ingredients (milk and egg), then add the dry ingredients (hemp hearts, muffin mix and flax meal), and mix together until combined. The dough should be a bit lumpy. Pour into loaf pan or muffin tins and cook according to directions on the box (may vary depending on mix). Once done baking (check with toothpick to make sure it comes out clean), let it cool for 20min, then cut and enjoy!

SportRx Sunglasses Review

Do you have an eye prescription? Have you ever tried prescription sunglasses? For the first time, as of the past month, yes! Not only are prescription sunglasses from SportRx AMAZING, they are down the best sunglasses I have ever worn! Read more to find out why these Oakley RPM Edge sunglasses are my go-to for Triathlon training!

Who is SportRx?

SportRx is a Southern California based company created by opticians who ride their bikes, run their races, push their jogging strollers and bomb down slopes. We love glasses and enjoying life and want to help you see better while doing the things you love.

They are also the industry leader in performance prescription sunglasses that can be customized for individual prescription needs and conditions. For many prescription wearers it is difficult or even impossible to get the sunglasses they want to work with their prescription range. SportRx has the highest capability of anyone on the market and carries all major brands (Ray Ban, 7Eye, Bolle, Dragon, Spy, Oakley).

Their mission?

Our mission is to create the perfect eyewear for your specific needs. (And its true, at least for me!).

The Process: Matching you with your perfect pair of sunglasses

I was set up to have a call with their Sports Optician (also an athlete) to help me get matched with the right pair for running and cycling. During the call, he suggested some different Oakley frames and lens tints that would be suited for my training needs. What’s awesome about SportRx is that they can send you  few pairs to try on (free!) and you just send back the ones that don’t work out (free!) before you buy!   Since I was/am still new to my new job area (and sometimes packages aren’t be delivered to my house), I opted to go a different route and just try on the suggested sunglasses models at a local Oakley store.

The guy at the Oakley store was really helpful in helping me find the different suggested Oakley models. I ended up really liking the look and the fit of the Oakley RPM Edge and loved that they wraped slightly around my face (to reduce incident light that may get into your peripheral vision).  The slight square “edge” that upturns toward the outside and the “Chocolate Sin” color was the combination most flattering for my oval and freckly face!

After I picked out my preferred sunglasses, I had my eye dr fax my Rx to SportRx (required) and then emailed their Sports Optician the Oakley model/color I chose. It came in less than 2 weeks!

My Oakley RPM Edge specs:

  • Color: Chocolate sin
  • Tint: Rose + polarized (aids in visibility in shade and cuts down on glare)

Testing them out

Triathlon Training: For over a month now, I’ve been training heavily on the weekends for my Tri for Fun Series (first race was at end of May).  Its been wonderful NOT having to put in my contacts before my bike, run or bike +  run sessions, one less thing for me to do! Just put on my Oakley RPM Edge sunglasses and go (mostly)! The sunglasses do not slip or bounce when I bike or run, nor have they fogged up on me.  I do like the rose tint since I have noticed a slight increase in shadow visibility (some of my bike ride is along a tree laden street). Not having to worry about sunglasses issues allows me to focus more on proper body alignment and getting in my miles. They’ve been amazing! Plus I’m pretty sure I go faster with awesome looking sunglasses 🙂

Walking:  In the evenings during the weekdays, I enjoy taking a walk especially since the daylight hours are longer.  I usually get tired of wearing my contacts by the time I get home, but its so nice having a prescription pair of sunglasses around to remedy that!

Verdict: YES!

I HIGHLY encourage you to invest in a pair of prescription sunglasses for everyday and active/athletic use! SportRx has been a wonderful company to work with and I am SO THANKFUL for this opportunity to review their sunglasses.  They are on my face every evening when I walk and every weekend during my bike, run or bike and run training sessions. My Oakley RPM Edge sunglasses are durable, come in a protective zip hardcase, and have a nice sleeve to sleep in when I turn them in for the night.  I definitely plan to wear them for my upcoming Disney Challenge (running) and my duathlon this fall!

SportRx is super friendly, so I also highly encourage you to call (888-831-5817) or email them them today to ask about how YOU can get matched with your perfect pair!  They have numerous models (Ray Ban, 7Eye, Bolle, Dragon, Spy, Oakley), styles, tints and ability to apply a prescription to alot of the sunglasses they offer on their website. If you want to keep up on SportRx ‘happening’ they have a blog and email subscription service!

Check SportRx out today!

currexSole Inserts Review

Recently I got the opportunity to test out a brand of shoe inserts for running from currexSole! Check out what my feet and lower body thought of these inserts below 🙂

What makes currexSole inserts unique?

currexSole offers a wide variety of soles, something for every shoe type imaginable. Plus you take a little survey or app test to customize the type of insert you need (running, hiking, cycling and more!). You just put in information about your body and presto you get a result! currexSole is the most awarded insole brand in Europe, they focus more on technology to help support your specific body and to help prevent injury.

Which ones did I test?

After taking a survey, I was matched with the currexSole RUNPRO Med profile (total of 3 profile options, low, med, high) for my running shoes. Their running specific RUNPRO features a dynamic and individual specific fit that is right in line with current footwear science and technology (zero mm drop so it won’t interfere with shoe construction and the insoles move with your feet vs restricting them).

They came within a week of taking the test and I only needed to trim a little bit off the outer edge to match the profile of my Asics shoes.

The website advertises the RUNPRO as:

Light, dynamic and pleasantly supportive, RUNPRO does its job: 100% power transfer to the ground. Less fatigue in the feet and calf muscles. You can reach new personal bests, whether in minimalist – or classic running shoes with a cushioned midsole and a 10mm drop. Get ready for the next level of running enjoyment! –currexSole

What my feet and lower body had to say:

The insoles are cushy sort of spongy feeling, not super stiff like other inserts I’ve previously used, like Superfeet.  For the past month, I have walked and run miles with these insoles (I transfer the inserts between my walking shoes and running shoes) and so far have not had IT band flare ups or calf tightness (things I have to manage the most!).

Mileage: I usually walk about 2 miles each work day at lunch and running low mileage about 2-4mi 2x/week (since I’m doing more swimming and cycling for my summer tri series). I don’t know how my feet would feel after a half marathon, but I’m sure that if I train with these further, I’ll know how my body fares with them over long distances! But I can attest to their great everyday use for walking and running!

If you are interested in getting your own pair(s) for your shoes, I suggest

  1. Checking out additional currexSole product stories here.
  2. Taking the survey or download the app to find the right insole and profile type here.
  3. Buying the pair through their orthotic page here.

Thank you currexSole for letting me test a pair of your insoles!
